4 gadgets for keeping your home safe & secure

The security of one’s home is a major concern for most people. Let’s face it, 20 minutes into your holiday and you’re already retracing your steps, wondering if you really did lock all the doors and windows. However, let’s be clear, providing you’ve followed the basic rules of home security, you shouldn’t have to worry about the possibility of a break-in. Especially in Norfolk, which is a very safe county to live in. But we don’t blame you if you want to go that extra mile in ensuring your home is super safe. Luckily, with technology engrained in every part of our lives, there are plenty of gadgets and tech available. So let’s take a look at what’s available.

TV Simulator Light

A lot more convincing than the traditional lamp on a timer, TV simulator lights do exactly what they say, simulate a switched on TV in your home. As well as varying light and colour changes, flickering, and on-screen motion simulation, these gadgets also include timer settings and light sensors. They’re also the cheapest option on our list, retailing around £25, like this one for sale at Maplin.

Kevo Lock

If you’re one for always misplacing your keys, this is the gadget for you! Connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth, Kevo allows you to unlock your front door by simply tapping your finger on the lock. You can also unlock your door remotely via your smartphone, and can also give temporary access to guests via an eKey. A Kevo lock will set you back approximately £150 – £200, but it is well worth the investment!
