Last month, Norwich was named by The Sunday Times as one of five top property hotspots in Britain in 2017. The article compared locations from across the country, rating them in term of their transport links, schools, best roads to live on, social scene and much more.
The writer of the article, Tim Palmer, described Norwich in a way all too known by Norwich locals, stating it has “everything you want from a city, enclosed in a neat, pretty little package.” Whilst Norwich may be easily forgotten by outsiders, for those local to the city, Norwich is full of character and charm whilst also brimming with big city ideas.
Norwich is also full of culture, with a rich history as well as a vast cultural offering with its many museums, galleries, music venues, theatres, festivals, and much more! In fact, Norwich was the first UNESCO City of Literature in England. The rich culture of Norwich makes the city a popular option for outsiders looking for something new.
The article also gives credit to the “modern delight of serious coffee and cutting-edge restaurants.” This is one of the prides of Norwich. Not just the quality of the businesses in the city, but also the vast number of unique independents operating in Norwich, giving another hint at the city’s thriving sectors.
The article goes on to reference the Golden Triangle, describing it as ‘the place to live’. Which we know to be a very popular area of the city, with its Victorian houses and thriving community making it an exciting place to own property in 2018.
What can we expect for Norwich in 2018
We expect big things for Norwich, not only in 2018 but further into the future as well.
The completion of the Norwich Northern Distributor Road should see gaining popularity for the towns and villages like Thorpe St Andrew and Spixthworth on the outskirts of the city as well as encouraging businesses to come to the area. It could even aid price growth for properties in these areas.
In 2018 we should see an escalated growth in Norwich’s economy. With a new study predicting that ‘the level of economic output over the coming months is likely to put [Norwich] in the top 10 fastest-growing places in the UK’. This economic growth combined with the general growth of Norwich will likely contribute to rising property prices in the future.
Norwich also has fantastic educational facilities, from highly regarded schools to ever-expanding universities with great community links. Not only will this continue to contribute to the city’s growing economy, but it will also help to attract bigger opportunities for Norwich. This is already apparent, with Norwich University of the Arts (NUA) cited in the bid for Channel 4 as an excellent example as to why Norwich should become the new home of Channel 4.
Whilst these are just predictions, we know that Norwich has a bright and exciting future, and we can’t wait to witness its growth in the years to come.
