The village of Wroxham can be found 8 miles from Norwich, within the Norfolk Broads, on the south side of the River Bure. On the northern side of the river is the village of Hoveton. Together, these villages are known as the capital of the Norfolk Broads. As of the of 2011 Census, Wroxham has a population of 1,502, over a 6 square kilometre area.
Wroxham is a popular holiday destination due to the range of facilities it has. Its large boatyards are home to a number of boat hiring businesses, offering a range of nautical experiences to partake in. In the centre of Wroxham, there is a variety of shops, pubs, and restaurants. For local residents, the village provides a Primary and Secondary school, medical and dental facilities and other amenities. The most famous shop in the village is Roys of Wroxham, which was founded in 1895 by brothers Alfred and Arnold Roy, and today holds the title of ‘The World’s Largest Village Store’.
In the neighbouring village of Hoveton, you can find Wroxham Barns; a local craft studio including shops, family activities, a fun fair, a junior farm, mini golf, and much more. Also not far from here is the family-favourite, Bewilderwood. This adventure park is full of activities for young families. From tree houses and zip wires to boat trips and marsh walks, Bewilderwood has something for everyone. For a more relaxed expedition of Wroxham, the Bure Valley Railway covers a 9-mile journey from Wroxham to Aylsham and is the perfect way to gaze at the beauty of the Broads without taking a step.
